McCall's 6566

Description: Loose-fitting, pullover tops have cap sleeves and narrow hems. A: contrast front overlay. B: optional pocket. C:contrast lower back. D: princess seams

Sizes: XS to XXL, started with a medium but made several changes

Changes:  I had to seam the back due to lack of fabric.  I also added a center back seam, stitching in at the waist for more of a fitted look
I also took some in at the side seams.  Then I made the back a low hem for the high-low look.

Fabric:  A silky from Joann's (last year)

Conclusion:  A fun, comfy top for summer and an easy project.

After I see the pictures, not sure I love it.  This was a test before cutting into some nice Mood silk.  I think I am going to keep looking for a pattern.  What is your opionions?

It might be the sleeves are too much.

  1. Super cute and a great summer top!

  2. I think your test fabric does not do justice to the pattern.

  3. Cute top. You may not be used to the fullness of a cut-on sleeve and feel dwarfed by them. But it looks like the illustration. I'm of the mind that if you don't love it, don't make it.

  4. Love the print and the outfit, looks like summer!

  6. Hi,

I really like the fabric and the pattern, yet less in combination. The fabric gives a nice and cheerful summer feeling. yet when I have a very catchy fabric, I would choose for a simple pattern. The pattern which you have used is simple, but has not a very distinctive/obvious line. So I would suggest a more straight but detailed pattern.

  7. I like it Lori. I know it may be different for you, but the bigger sleeves are kind of cool.
It's a great pattern...I just may have to copy you on this one, too!

  8. Maybe the sleeves would feel better in a contrast fabric. I like that sports T look and even in your lovely fabric, you could go with a plain sleeve. Gorgeous though.
